Shanghai SECCO Petrochemical SECCO-OSBL Wastewater Treatment Plant

Shanghai SECCO is a jointly owned company by China Petrochemical Co., Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Co., and the British Petroleum company. The funding ratio is 30:20:50 respectively. The total investment is 2.748 billion US dollars, this company has an annual output of 900,000 tons of ethylene, 600,000 tons of polyethylene, 250,000 tons of polypropylene, 500,000 tons of aromatics extraction, 500,000 tons of styrene, 300,000 tons of polystyrene ethylene, 260,000 tons of acrylonitrile, 90,000 tons of butadiene. It is one of the biggest jointly owned ventures in China, and had been listed as the national key project in 2004. The estimated annual production is 2.28 million tons of petrochemical products. Most of the products are used to supply the domestic market,although some are exported.

This wastewater treatment system for this large endeavor consists of a a pretreatment system of the 900,000 tons/year of oil wastewater from the production lines, floor washing, contaminated runoff and etc. Its main purpose is to remove oil and organic compounds with similar physical properties to oil from the wastewater. The wastewater is then treated to meet the SCIP wastewater treatment plant requirements.After biochemical treatment by SCIP, the wastewater can be discharged into HangZhou Bay. After condensation and dehydration, the sludge can then be disposed.
