TISCO hot rolling plant is one of the main projects for Taiyuan Iron and Steel (Group) Co., The annual output of the project is 4 million tons of steel strips, 2 million tons of stainless steel and 2 million tons of carbon steel, this steel mill has 4 furnaces, one roughing mill, one transverse cutting mill, and onefinishing mill. The wastewater treatment plant by MEEG is built for all of these main process lines.

The original design used a sedimentation tank and a filtration process. However, increases in the wastewater flow rate caused insufficient retention time in the sedimentation tank, the effluent oil content was unstable and caused the filter media to clog, and overall the system failed to meet the increased production requirements. After MEEG's design modifications, the TISCO hot rolling mill wastewater treatment plant is now able to treat 300,000 tons of wastewater per day. After nearly two years of operation, the system still sufficiently meets the design requirements.
